A journey is a journey made to a point more
or less distant personal purposes (tourism) or professional
(Business). The journey has grown considerably and democratized
during the twentieth century avecl'avènement of modern transport
and more rapid and comfortable, the railway first and then
automobile and the airplane.
A circular journey that brings the traveler to his starting point is a "journey".
People traveling are called "travelers", or in some modes of transport "passengers".
historically
motivated by practical reasons (trade, exploration, ...), the travel
changes in the nineteenth century with the arrival of tourists ("idiot
travel "as it is called without malice Jean-Didier Urbain), which
travels for pleasure.
Motivations become from there
more complex and rooted in history and in the
myths perpetuated by literature (Marco Polo, Jules Verne, Robinson
Crusoe, ...). This literature of adventure is also developing
strongly in the nineteenth century.
However, at the same time that the World "is
shrinking "due to rapid transportation, identification
in various forms (maps, images, information, ...)
increases, leaving less room for the surprise of the traveler. Marc Augé
thus saith the impossible journey, "one that we will never
Moreover, one who could help us discover new landscapes and
other men. "
Currently, the extension of travel poses
problem of responsible tourism as well as the change
climate, transportation is a major contributor to
the greenhouse gas effects
emissions and furthermore increasing
